Hello !
My name is Ricardo Franco and I am a landscape photographer from Portugal deeply in love with my craft!
My background has nothing to do with photography as I am graduated in marketing and self-taught in web development, but I realized after working for some companies in the digital area that I wanted to chart my own path and be geographically independent.
A few months after making that decision, I was already working remotely, which led me to explore Asia for an entire year, increasing my appetite for traveling and exploring the beauty of this planet.
Since then I never looked back and more than 40 countries later, photography turned out to be a natural extension of my passion for Nature and technology, allowing me to articulate these two realities while discovering new sensations and balancing the time I spent at the computer with more time outdoors.
Only recently did I discover what landscape photography was all about and in 2018 I began dedicating much of my time to it, absorbing as much knowledge as possible and eagerly channeling my innate passion for learning to a new world I had never imagined to be so complex and challenging .
When I am on the ground I appreciate the multitude of feelings that landscape photography gives me, from relaxation and communion with Nature to the adrenaline and adventure of exploration.
My goal as a visual artist is to show people the beauty of this world in a somewhat surreal and dreamy way that results from a fusion of my perception and reality. I believe there are places on this planet so magical that it is impossible to do them justice without mastering certain editing techniques that help to convey their message and experience.
My images are always complemented by the stories and lessons I draw from my travels and my hope is that they can help people visualizing and feeling, even if only for a moment, what I experienced at each place I have photographed.
Despite defending creative freedom in the photographic process, there are limits to what I consider to separate photography from digital art !
I have been putting a lot of effort and time into landscape photography and it didn’t take long until this started returning some results .
Last year I got published twice by National Geographic and one of these was a paid publication earning a double page highlight in their magazine .
In the meantime I have been published in a landscape photography book and a new one is already on the works !
I also have a currently ongoing exposition which will be displayed in several spaces throughout Portugal , among which are the Arts Museum of Sintra .
